This letter, dated December 20, 1932, was written by Evan to Thomas and Ethel "and all" as he reflects on the season and his testimony as a missionary. The home he writes from no longer stands, although neighboring homes across the street from the same era are still there.

Dearest Mother & Dad and All –
I have Just read mothers very appreciated letter. It reads: "Evan as Christmas time draws near it seems to bring with it a deep feeling for those we love most." This is indeed true. It seems to be home is part of the regular program at Christmas Time. And how I would appreciate being there especially during the next few days.
At this time as Mother says in fact, affection, love, and duty carry our thots [thoughts] to those whose parenthood brotherhood and friendship we Cherish.
[Left Margin Text]: Do not worry about where I will spend Christmas.
The influence of this more than Ordinary Man has almost permeated every nation, and visited every clime. And now that people would only accept the revelations which have been revealed by the Lord in this dispensation! If they would only do this their peace and joy at Christmas time would be even more complete. If people would all accept this added light the inconsistency of the so-called Christian churches could be overcome, and creedal conceptions would no longer confuse so many honest souls.
I do feel that I am presenting the most valuable present of any this holiday season as I pursue my missionary activity. The Gospel is indeed a "pearl of Great Price" as the Master depicts it in the parable found in Matt 13. It reads: "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it."
Notice the price of possession is "ones all".

[Right Margin Text]: I am encusing a greeting such as we missionaries have sent to all our friends and investigators this year.
No man can enter that kingdom by partial allegiance, but must renounce every thing foreign and give "one's all".
About the best resolution we could make now at the end of the old year is to strive to our utmost to make this Pearl of Great Price "our all" through constant labor and diligent service.
My testimony of the Saviors mission is constantly getting stronger and I add my blessing and best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
